Terms of Service

Last updated: May 21, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Split the Bill, a bill splitting app operated by Epic AI. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. The service

Split the Bill helps you divide restaurant and group bills by item, calculate tax and tip, and generate payment request links. Some features are free and some require a Pro subscription. We may add, change, or remove features over time to improve the app.

3. Accounts and sign-in

Sign-in uses a magic link sent to your email address, so there is no password to manage. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure and for activity that happens under your account. Let us know promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

4. Free and Pro plans

The Free plan supports quick even splits for small groups. The Pro plan unlocks receipt scanning, detailed item assignment, unlimited people per bill, unlimited history, groups, and the fairness tracker.

Pro is billed at 1.99 US dollars per month through our payment processor. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and access continues through the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, payments already made are not refundable. Prices may change with advance notice.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the app for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose.
  • Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the app.
  • Upload content that infringes the rights of others or violates any law.
  • Use the app to harass other people or to misrepresent amounts owed.

6. Bills and content you create

You are responsible for the accuracy of the bill names, items, amounts, and people you enter. Split the Bill performs the math you ask it to perform, but the inputs and the final amounts are your responsibility. You retain ownership of the content you create and grant us the limited permission needed to store and display it back to you.

7. Payments between people

Split the Bill does not process, hold, or transfer money between users. Payment features create deep links to third party services such as Venmo, CashApp, and Zelle with an amount pre-filled. The actual transfer happens inside those apps under their terms. We are not a party to, and are not responsible for, payments or disputes between you and other people.

8. Receipt scanning

Receipt scanning uses an AI provider to extract line items from a photo. It is a convenience feature and may not be perfectly accurate. Always review scanned items and amounts before saving or sharing a split.

9. Intellectual property

The Split the Bill name, logo, design, and software are owned by Epic AI and are protected by applicable laws. These terms do not grant you any right to use our branding except as needed to use the app normally.

10. Disclaimers

The app is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and accuracy of calculations or scanned data.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Epic AI will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any payment disputes between users. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

12. Termination

You may stop using the app and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are violated or if needed to protect the app and its users. You can cancel a Pro subscription from the Settings screen.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the courts located in Colorado, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
