Frequently asked questions

How does Split the Bill split a bill?

Add the people at the table, enter each item with its price, then assign every item to whoever ordered it. The app adds tax and tip proportionally and shows each person their exact total. For a fast even split, use Quick Split and just enter the grand total.

How do I split a shared item?

Assign a single item to more than one person. Split the Bill divides that item evenly among everyone you assigned it to, so a shared appetizer or bottle of wine is handled automatically.

How does receipt scanning work?

In a Detailed Split, tap Scan Receipt and take a photo of the bill. The app uses AI to read the line items and fills them in for you. Always review the scanned items and amounts before saving, since scanning is a convenience feature and may not be perfect.

What is included with Pro?

Pro unlocks receipt scanning, detailed item assignment, unlimited people per bill, unlimited bill history, group management, the fairness tracker, and payment tracking. It is 1.99 US dollars per month and you can cancel anytime.

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

Open Settings and manage your subscription from the Pro section. Access continues through the end of your current billing period after you cancel.

How do payment requests work?

Split the Bill builds a deep link to Venmo, CashApp, or Zelle with the amount pre-filled. The transfer itself happens inside that app. Split the Bill never holds or moves money, so add your payment handles in Settings so others can pay you back quickly.

I did not get my sign-in link.

Sign-in uses a magic link emailed to you. Check your spam folder and confirm the email address is correct. Links expire after 15 minutes, so request a fresh one if needed. If it still does not arrive, email us and we will help.

How do I delete my account or my data?

Email us from the address on your account and ask for deletion. We remove your personal data within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for full detail on what we collect and how long we keep it.
