Split the Bill is a bill splitting app operated by Epic AI. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We are committed to collecting only what the app needs to work, and we do not sell your personal information.
We collect a small amount of information so the app can function:
We use the information above to:
We do not use your bill data or contacts for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
When you use receipt scanning, the receipt image is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) so the line items can be extracted. The image is processed for that single request and is not retained beyond the scan. The extracted text is saved as part of your bill only if you choose to save the bill.
On the web app we use a small number of cookies for sign-in and to remember your consent choice. Analytics cookies load only after you accept them through the cookie banner. You can decline analytics and still use every feature of the app.
We share information with trusted providers only as needed to operate the app. These include Anthropic (receipt scanning), Stripe (subscription payments), Resend (sign-in and service emails), Vercel (hosting), and Google Analytics (optional usage analytics). Each provider may process data only for the purpose we engage them for.
We keep your account and bill data while your account is active. Receipt images are not retained after a scan. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal or accounting obligations.
We use industry standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, scoped access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit what we collect in the first place.
You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account at any time. You can also update your payment handles and display name directly in the app, and decline analytics through the cookie banner. To make a request, email us at the address below.
Split the Bill is rated for ages 4 and up but is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Split the Bill after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Questions about privacy or a data request can be sent to privacy@splitthebillapp.com.
